Amal is looking for a safe space to sleep as she arrives at the square in front of the Piraeus Municipal Theatre. She see’s 30 beds and upon each bed sits a child and their parents.
A choir joins the event to sing the children the many lullabies from the regions of Greece but the children don’t want to sleep, they want to play. Their parents try everything until slowly, slowly they start falling asleep one by one. All except Amal. She is tired but more than anything, she is alone.
The children gather around her one by one offering comfort, finally Amal can sleep.
The Municipal Theatre of Piraeus is one of the most celebrated theatre’s in Greece. After WW1 when Greek refugees coming from used this theatre as a safe haven to sleep.
